Sunrise Water is responsible for maintaining the public water system including the water meter assembly.  The water meter assembly may vary from home to home within the service area depending on the date at which it was installed.  In general the assembly will include (in order from street towards the home) an angle meter stop, a pressure regulator, the water meter, a check valve, and a customer service valve.  The illustrations below show the two most typical meter assemblies that occur within the Sunrise system.  The homeowner is responsible for all plumbing and components on the homeowner side of the final component of the meter assembly. The property owner can be liable for damage to the meter box and its contents caused by negligence.

Homes usually have a master water shut off valve either in the garage or the crawl space. Homeowners should know the location of the master water shut off valve before a leak occurs, since quick action to shut off the water reduces the amount of damage that occurs.
