Drinking Water Week, May 2-8
Celebrating Tap Water Being “There When You Need It”
Sunrise Water Authority, and water utilities throughout the US, are kicking off Drinking Water Week, to highlight the different ways consumers’ tap water is “There When You Need It.” Drinking Water Week is May 2-8 this year.
Drinking Water Week is dedicated to recognizing the vital role tap water plays in daily life, the infrastructure that is required to carry it to homes and businesses, and the critical work that water professionals accomplish around the clock. Access to safe drinking water during the COVID outbreak highlighted the important role that Sunrise Water Authority plays in protecting the health of the community we serve. The investments made in our people and our system infrastructure assured that there was no noticeable reduction in service delivery or water quality during this stressful time.
“Tap water continues to serve an integral role in meeting our daily hygiene needs during the coronavirus pandemic,” said American Water Works Association CEO David LaFrance. “Water professionals, the infrastructure they work to design, create and maintain, and the treatment process all work in harmony to ensure safe tap water is ‘There When You Need It.”
The focus of Drinking Water Week is to encourage consumers to learn more about the importance of water and water infrastructure, especially in times of crisis. Take a look at the publication, How Water Systems Work to learn more about the behind the scenes efforts required to get water to your tap.
